Travelex's tiered plans (Essential, Basic, Plus, Ultimate) let you start simple and layer on adventure coverage only if you need it. The optional adventure rider covers skiing, mountaineering, parachuting, and other high-risk pursuits with $1M evacuation limits. This modular approach appeals to backpackers who want flexibility and don't want to pay for coverage they won't use.
The trade-off is that adding riders increases the premium and creates multiple decisions at checkout. If you know you'll do adventure sports, comparing all-in coverage from providers like Allianz might actually cost less than building Travelex from pieces.
