DAN membership bundles a diving-specific emergency hotline with DAN TravelAssist, which includes evacuation coverage for both diving and non-diving medical emergencies once you're traveling more than 50 miles from home. Because the organization's core mission is dive safety research and training, its medical staff and assistance line understand decompression sickness and dive injuries in a way a general travel insurer's call center often doesn't.

Membership itself is inexpensive and separate from the optional travel insurance add-on, so divers can join for the hotline and educational resources alone or add trip cancellation and medical coverage on top.
