What Assist Card is

Assist Card is a travel insurance plan brand with its own assistance operation, not the insurer carrying the risk. The US legal notice states, "These plans are underwritten by Starr Indemnity & Liability Company, a Texas-domiciled corporation," with NAIC company code 38318 and Texas license number 93542, and says Starr Indemnity "is currently authorized to do business in all states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico." The same notice explains the split: "Certain travel assistance services contemplated by this insurance shall be provided by Assist Card Smalline Corp S.A., Assist-Card Corporation of America, and/or their affiliates" under agreements with Starr. The plan tables repeat that "Travel Assistance Services are not insurance benefits and are not provided by the Insurer." The US site's quote form is set to "Origin: United States" and asks for a resident state, and the site also runs separate entry pages for other countries of residence. The legal notice adds that Starr sells through insurance agents and brokers it calls Producers, whose pay "may vary depending on a number of factors, including the insurance contract and the insurer that the purchaser selects," and that a buyer may request that compensation information from the Producer.

Single Trip plans

The Single Trip page compares two tiers, Classic Plus, "Our most popular package, suitable for almost every trip," and Premier, "Enhanced benefits and the most comprehensive coverage." Both list trip cancellation at 100% of trip cost, trip interruption at 150% of trip cost, an optional Cancel for Any Reason upgrade at 75% of trip cost "for additional fee," a $200 airline ticket change fee benefit and a missed connection benefit of $750 after a minimum 3-hour delay. For emergency accident and sickness medical expense, Classic Plus lists $50,000 and Premier $250,000, each with "Deductible: $0" and "$750 Dental Expense Only." Both list emergency medical evacuation at $500,000 and repatriation of remains at $250,000. The homepage sums this up as "Deductible $0 (for covered emergency medical expenses)" and adds that "Benefits vary by plan."

The tiers differ below that. Trip delay after 6 hours pays $250 per day to a maximum of $750 on Classic Plus, while the Premier column prints its maximum as "$1, 500." Baggage delay pays $100 per day to $300 after 12 hours on Classic Plus, and $200 per day to $500 after 6 hours on Premier. Lost, damaged or stolen baggage is capped at $1,000 on Classic Plus and $2,500 on Premier, both with a $250 per-item limit. Accidental death and dismemberment is $10,000 on Classic Plus and $50,000 on Premier, and only Premier adds an air-only accidental death benefit of $200,000. On pre-existing conditions, both columns read: "May be included; restrictions apply."

Annual plans

The Annual page compares Basic Annual, "Essential coverage to protect your health and personal belongings," Premier Annual, "Enhanced benefits and comprehensive coverage," and Medical Only Annual, "Focused on medical coverage, suitable for every trip." Emergency medical expense is $50,000 on Basic Annual, $100,000 on Premier Annual and $50,000 on Medical Only Annual, each with a $0 deductible. Emergency medical evacuation is $50,000, $250,000 and $100,000 in the same order, and repatriation of remains $50,000, $150,000 and $100,000. Baggage delay after 12 hours pays $100 per day to $500, $750 and $300 respectively, and baggage loss is capped at $2,000, $2,500 and $1,000. The page notes that the "Medical Only Annual plan not available in VA" and that "Benefits and limits may vary by state."

Air ticket and car rental plans

The Air Ticket Protector is built for "specific coverage for the cost of their airline ticket," domestic or international. Its table lists trip cancellation "Up to 100% of Airline Ticket Cost," trip interruption "125% of Trip Cost," a $200 change fee benefit, a $500 missed connection benefit after 3 hours, trip delay of $100 per day to $500 after 6 hours, a $100 baggage delay benefit after 12 hours, baggage cover to $500 and an air-only accidental death benefit of $25,000. The Car Rental Plan offers Renter's Collision as "Primary coverage for damage to your rental car," listed at $35,000, along with 24/7 roadside assistance and rental car reimbursement, and the page says it is "Not available in NY, TX, WA, and KS."

Buying, assistance and Europe

Plans are sold by quote. The form asks for a destination region, single or multiple trips, dates and each traveler's age, with the instruction "Passengers under 1 year old indicate age 0." The FAQ says a buyer can "Get a Quote", set travel dates and destination and follow the purchase path, and that travelers reach assistance "through our app, WhatsApp or our phone lines." The US contact line lists hours of "Monday - Friday, 7am - 10pm ET." The legal notice sets the terms for assistance: services are provided only if the traveler or a representative notifies Assist Card, "the service and payments must be arranged, authorized, verified and approved in advance by ASSIST CARD," transport is economy class unless an Assist Card medical director recommends otherwise, and Assist Card will not reimburse transport the traveler arranges and pays for alone. Providers it suggests are not its employees, and "the Covered Person is responsible for the choice of a provider."

The Europe page says its assistance network "spans over 190 countries" and states that "It is now mandatory to have a travel insurance policy with a minimum coverage of €30,000 to cover medical expenses," while its FAQ also tells travelers to confirm entry requirements with the destination's embassy or consulate. The cruise page lists a "Travel Inconvenience Benefit," a one-time payment for disruptions such as a cruise diversion, "included with certain plans."

Who it suits

Assist Card suits a US resident who wants to see benefit limits before quoting: the plan tables print medical, evacuation, delay and baggage figures for each tier, all with a $0 medical deductible. The Single Trip Premier tier and the Premier Annual plan carry the highest medical limits within their lines, and the Air Ticket Protector and Renter's Collision plans cover a single item for travelers who need nothing broader. Pre-existing condition cover is marked only as possibly included with restrictions, the full terms sit in the Starr policy, and emergency services must be approved by Assist Card in advance, which matters to anyone who expects to arrange treatment first and claim later.
