Travel Guard (AIG)

Tap a star to rate

Travel Guard has been selling comprehensive trip insurance for decades and its tier structure reflects that maturity: Essential covers the basics, Preferred adds cancel for any reason and higher medical limits as options, and Deluxe pushes coverage limits further still for a bigger, costlier trip. A separate Adventure Travel plan exists specifically for travelers doing higher-risk activities, rather than forcing that coverage into the general tiers as an afterthought.

Pre-existing conditions can be waived if the plan is purchased within roughly 15 days of the first trip payment, standard timing in this category, and medical coverage is generally secondary to other insurance a traveler holds. AIG's size and long track record make claims history and financial ratings easy to check independently, a reasonable comfort factor for a traveler comparing a household name against smaller, newer entrants. It's a solid default for a comprehensive trip plan when a traveler wants an established insurer without much shopping around.
