What Travelner Insurance is

Travelner Insurance is an insurance agency and comparison site, not an insurer. Its legal terms page names the operating company as Travelner Insurance Agency, LLC and states that it "is licensed as an insurance agency in various U.S. states, under NPN 21564542." The same page says plainly: "It is important to understand that Travelner Insurance Agency acts as an insurance agent, not as an insurance provider." It spells out what that means: "We do not underwrite or issue insurance policies ourselves. The Insurance Provider is solely responsible for all obligations under the Insurance Policy," and "We are not authorized to bind coverage on behalf of any Insurance Provider." The contact address on the legal page is in Cosco Tower, Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong, and the terms are "governed by the laws of Hong Kong." The footer names Travelner America, Inc. as the holder of the Travelner trademark.

The about page describes the business as "a global travel company that specializes in diverse insurance programs: travel insurance, travel medical insurance and assistance services," aimed at "travelers, students, and any individuals or groups living or working abroad." The homepage leads with trust language, "Trusted by Travelers Worldwide," "Top-Rated Providers" and "Best Service Guaranteed," and prints a Trustpilot rating of "4.8/5." It says it is "Partnered with top insurers," but no page on the site names one of them, so the carrier behind a plan shows only in the quote.

Product lines

The navigation repeats the same product lines across the site: International Travel Insurance, Visitor or Immigrant Insurance, Senior Travel Insurance, Business Travel Insurance, Travel Insurance for Schengen Visa, and a Student Insurance Plan. The FAQ is sorted into topics including claim questions, medical insurance, trip insurance, pre-existing conditions, Covid-19, international travelers, immigrants and students. The homepage adds group purchases, promising to make "purchasing group travel insurance easy and hassle-free," and "Customizable Plans" to "match your specific needs, whether for adventure, business, or family travel." A family FAQ answer says Travelner "provides travel insurance plans designed for families, with coverage options that may include common travel risks such as medical emergencies, trip disruptions, and baggage issues." Blog pieces cover study abroad, gap years, business trips and backpacking as general buying guides.

What the plans can cover

The homepage groups benefits under four headings. Medical Coverage lists accident and sickness, hospitalization expenses, physician office visits, prescription medication and dental emergency. Trip Coverage lists trip cancellation, trip interruption, trip delay, incidental trip and missed connection. Personal Belongings lists baggage lost, baggage delay, sports equipment rental, rental car damage and device protection. Crisis Protection lists medical evacuation, search and rescue, natural disaster, terrorism coverage and personal liability. Under that list the homepage adds that "The benefits of travel insurance depend on the specific coverage package you select," so the headings describe the range on offer, not one plan.

The FAQ on international cover describes medical expenses as "Coverage for emergency medical treatment, hospitalization, and doctor's fees," along with trip cancellation or interruption, travel delay, lost or delayed baggage, emergency evacuation and "24/7 support for emergencies." On pre-existing conditions, an FAQ answer says "most standard travel insurance policies do not cover pre-existing medical conditions unless they are declared and approved by the insurer," and that providers "including those partnered with Travelner" offer plans that let a traveler declare a condition and receive coverage "if it meets specific criteria." It says the online application asks for the medical background and helps identify which plans may cover it. A senior-travel answer notes cover is "Subject to medical assessment and insurer approval, depending on your health history." The cost FAQ says price depends on "the traveler's age, the length and destination of the trip, the level of coverage selected, and any pre-existing medical conditions," and that "some policies can be purchased for as low as a few dollars per day." The site prints no premium for its own plans.

How buying works

The homepage describes "4 Easy Steps" taking "Less Than 5 Minutes": enter trip details for quotes, compare the suggested plans side by side, buy through a "100% online process," and travel. The legal page adds that "Submission of an application through this Website does not bind coverage. All coverage is subject to underwriting approval," and that terms, limitations and exclusions "are detailed in the Insurance Policy documents provided to you by the Insurance Provider." Payment is by major credit card or a Visa or Mastercard debit card, prices are listed in US dollars, and any processing or broker charges "will be clearly disclosed prior to your payment being processed." Site users must be "at least 18 years old." The footer links separate pricing information for non-US residents and for California, Idaho, New York, Washington and Wisconsin. After purchase, a manage-policy page gives "24/7 access to review your policy details, documents, and more" using an order ID and email, and it works only "if you have successfully purchased our travel insurance plan."

Claims and support

Claims go to the insurer. The homepage's general claims process reads: "File your claim directly with the insurance company," then submit Travelner's Claims Assistance Request form, receive updates and results from the provider, and finish the reimbursement. Travelner describes its role as help around that process: "We can't access claims directly, but we'll coordinate with the provider to inform you when needed." The homepage also promises a support team "available around the clock to assist you anytime, anywhere in the world," and the FAQ says its "Customer Success Team of licensed insurance specialists" will "typically respond within 48 hours" to a submitted question.

Who it suits

Travelner suits a traveler who wants one agency quoting across visitor, student, senior, business, Schengen and family plans, buying online and managing the policy without a phone call. It suits someone with a pre-existing condition who wants to declare it during the application and see which plans respond, on the site's own description of that process. It suits less well a buyer who wants to know the underwriter or see a price before entering personal details, since both appear only in the quote, and anyone who expects the agency to decide or pay a claim, because the site states that the insurer alone carries the policy obligations.
